In order to upgrade the systems successfully, it is important to be familiar with different software versions.

The software versions are defined as follows:

Major releases introduce significant and breaking changes on the protocol and software architecture level.

Example: PBXware 6.x introduced breaking compatibility changes compared to PBXware 5.x.

Minor releases introduce a planned single development iteration containing a list of features and bug fixes.

Example: PBXware 6.1 introduced a list of features and bug fixes.

Micro releases introduce a list of bug fixes (and/or sometimes smaller features) between two minor iterations.

Example: PBXware 6.1.2 introduced a list of bug fixes.
